Meet Marcia

My journey into the visual arts began with snapshots to remind me of where I traveled, but evolved to be much more, capturing the feelings about the places, evoking emotion not only for myself, but also for those who have not been there yet. I have numerous mentors to thank for that, particularly Bob Killen at National Parks Photographic Expeditions.

My career taking care of critically ill and dying children, later transitioning to palliative care and hospice for both adults and children, influences me daily. I had the privilege of helping patients and families manage unthinkable situations; it was fulfilling to make their lives a little easier. But I took on some of their pain to help offload it for them. I am currently shepherding my own family through these situations; my husband, travel, nature and photography are my healing forces. And I can guarantee you, not one person has told my in their life review that they regretted taking time to revel in the beauty of their environments or their lives writ large; as a result, I learned to focus on beauty wherever I am, to look up from my screen and see the good that is always there in the world.

Creating fine art brings me immense joy, but it is best when I can share it with others. As with my heroic patients and their amazing families, I am deeply committed to forming personal connections with my audience and collectors. It can be very helpful to have a mutual understanding and a shared passion. I love discovering new things and would appreciate your feedback and ideas for new projects (to add to my own long list). Maybe you see a great direction for me to go or have a comment or suggestion about my work on the site- I would love to know!
